The City of Rocky Top is situated in the lovely East Tennessee region of Anderson and Campbell County, close to Interstate 75. Twenty miles north of Knoxville's downtown, near Rocky Top, you may reach Norris Lake, Norris Dam State Park, and WindRock Park, the largest off-road recreation area in the nation. The only area in Tennessee that allows year-round ATV use on public roads and provides easy access to WindRock Park Trails is Rocky Top.

Northwest of Knoxville in the eastern section of the U.S. state of Tennessee, Rocky Top is a city in the Anderson and Campbell counties. In 2010, there were 1,781 people living there. Since Anderson County makes up the majority of the community, it is a part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area. After a last-ditch attempt by the owners of the copyright to the song "Rocky Top" was rejected by a federal court, the city's name was changed from Lake City to Rocky Top officially on June 26, 2014.

Rocky Top is mostly a town of service providers, production and manufacturing workers, and sales and office professionals.
