Tennessee's Morgan and Scott counties contain the unincorporated village of Rugby. Rugby was created as a test colony for an ideal society. Although Hughes's experiment was generally unsuccessful, a small colony persisted in Rugby for the whole of the 20th century. Residents, friends, and Rugby's lineal descendants started rebuilding Rugby's original layout and design in the 1960s by saving existing structures and erecting new ones. Rugby is now a well-liked tourist destination thanks to its Victorian architecture and attractive surroundings.
